Specialist immigration law firm Newfields is supporting the clients of John Atkins Ltd in Exeter, after the recent passing of a highly-regarded immigration lawyer in the area.

Newfields said it has been carefully selected to support John’s clients ‘thanks to its shared commitment to personalised client care, excellence, meticulous attention to detail, and profound understanding of immigration law, mirroring the qualities John exemplified’.

In seven years, Newfields has grown from a sole practitioner practice, founded by Glyn Lloyd, to the largest immigration boutique firm in Wales – and one of the largest in the UK – now with offices across four key cities in Wales and the South West of England.

Exeter is the latest addition to the law firm’s fold, as it has entered into an agreement with the estate of John Atkins to continue his immigration-exclusive practice that was located in the region.

Glyn Lloyd, Founder and Partner at Newfields, said:

“John was a very decent lawyer, a witty gentleman, and a practitioner who had a particular empathy towards the circumstances of his clients which focused on delivering an exceptional but affordable service.

“Our core values at Newfields strongly resonate with these principles. We share the same client-centric focus, ensuring businesses and individuals receive pragmatic advice that is outcome-driven and cost-sensible, at very competitive fixed rates.”

Glyn explained the firm is able to keep rates low while offering sector-specific immigration expertise as lawyers are not subject to internal time recording arrangements or targets. He believes this prevents ‘work hoarding and results in better collaboration and well-being amongst our experts’. ‘Ultimately’, he said, ‘our clients receive a better standard of service; our team are happy; and, the firm continues to grow’. Glyn added:

“We have of course experienced some specific growing pains, and our Team Leaders have worked exceptionally hard this year to implement systems and structures to ensure the firm remains on an upward trajectory.

“We have re-arranged ourselves into sectors: business (including public sector); sport; health; and families and individuals. To my knowledge, there is no other UK immigration firm that has organised itself in such a way. However, this novel approach ensures our clients benefit from advice delivered by our people who enjoy a more in-depth understanding of the sectors within which they operate; the specialisms have also enabled us to take a more focused approach in expanding different aspects of our business. I’m particularly proud of the arrangement, and how it has facilitated the practice’s growth.”

Newfields already acts for large organisations operating in Devon and Cornwall, including Specsavers and the Premiership club Exeter Chiefs, and as Glyn said:

“There are very few immigration advisors in the region. I have always wanted a base in the area, and so this opportunity is a particularly exciting one for us.”

Newfields has offices in Cardiff city centre, Swansea, Bristol and now Exeter.
