Lux Family Law – a boutique family law practice based in Cardiff – has recently take on a further two fee earners, taking the total staff to six.
Lux was founded three years ago in 2018 by Charlotte Leyshon who had formerly been head of Family Law at Hugh James solicitors.
The number of new high net worth clients with complex financial affairs has meant that Lux has now taken on two more fee earners this month.
Kate Williams (formerly of Wendy Hopkins Family Law Practice) has joined as a solicitor along with Molly Nicholls as a paralegal. This expansion has meant that the firm has had to take on a second floor in the building they occupy on Pontcanna Street.
As the pandemic gave way to a flux of family law matters, Lux was able to move swiftly to support clients, as Charlotte explained:
“The fact that the world went online (including the courts) has meant that as well as obtaining significant instructions in the local market, our reach has seen an increase in instructions from London and further afield. We recently had a remote hearing before Mostyn J where we were in the office Cardiff, both barristers and the Judge were in London and both parties in Manchester.”
“Of course we are thrilled to have seen the firm grow in the way that it has. The important thing for us though is to always make sure our clients continue to receive the most personal service. There is no desire to grow in to something different as at our core we are boutique and that’s the secret of our success.”
Lux aims to provide a boutique offering for clients looking for a bespoke and ‘concierge’ style service. Lux grew quickly from the outset, appointing senior paralegal Emily Borghese in 2019, who will shortly commence her training contract with the firm, and in early 2020, Lucy Williams (previously at Hugh James) joined the firm as a senior associate.
