The final phase of the Wales-wide LawTech survey has launched today. The survey offers legal entities the chance to share their technology needs and ambitions, to help influence the support, collaboration and solutions being created for the legal sector in Wales.

There’s a perfect storm of LawTech resources, events, support & networks being created for the legal profession in Wales and Legal News Wales is proud to be a central contributor to these conversations, at the highest level.

A significant amount of funding and time is being targeted into digitisation, technology and the legal profession in Wales. Legal News Wales wants to ensure these efforts are relevant to your business, its ambitions and the overall sustainability of the legal sector in Wales. We urge you to have your say!

The LawTech in Wales Survey has been produced in collaboration with the Cardiff & District Law Society LawTech Group and the Legal Innovation Lab Wales (part of Swansea University’s Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law).

The survey is open to any legal entity, including in-house legal teams or barristers’ chambers, with a base in Wales.

The results will help us pitch your needs to influential stakeholders and technology networks, along with innovators in the legal sector, to help shape the exclusive support, training, guidance, networks and events that will are being created for the legal sector in Wales.

The survey closes on 14 March 2022 and the full survey report will be shared at a free, online event hosted before the end of April (details to follow), which will include announcements on plans to support the use, development and further expansion of technology and LawTech by the sector in Wales.

Good to know

  • The first part of this survey was launched at the end of 2021 and the Wales-wide responses from law firms have proved invaluable in discussions and plans to create relevant support and opportunities, and part 2 of the survey.
  • The full survey report will be shared at a free, online event (date to be shared here soon), with further announcements on planned support for the legal sector in Wales.
  • All the information you share with us is anonymised.
  • We’ve kept the survey as brief as possible. There are some ‘setting the scene’ questions but we hope they won’t be too onerous.
  • We’ve used jargon-free questions and the vast majority are multiple choice. There are no wrong answers!
  • If you have a question about the survey and its findings and planned LawTech in Wales activities, please email the Editor, Emma Waddingham, here.
