Legal News Wales is delighted to announce a new, exclusive Community Partnership with cyber security specialists PureCyber, to help build a resilient legal sector in Wales by delivering accessible, relevant support and knowledge for legal practices of all kinds.

PureCyber will extend its extensive and unrivalled experience of enabling the legal sector to stay resilient and trusted in the digital world to the Legal News Wales community, sharing insight and knowledge that meets the needs of all law firms, barristers’ chambers and others offering legal services in and from Wales.

Wales-based PureCyber has already played an essential role in ensuring law firms in Wales a first-class Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification programme. It is the award-winning delivery partner for the scheme in Wales, fully-funded the Welsh Government and managed by The Law Society Wales office (more information can be found here). This partnership is an extension of PureCyber’s ambition to inform, educate and showcase best practice to all legal sector businesses, supporting growth while protecting businesses and individuals.

On the partnership announcement, Legal News Wales editor, Emma Waddingham, said:

“The legal sector in Wales is ambitious, and rightly so but it’s misleading to think that resilient, trusted law firms with an aspirational brand and workforce have cyber security plans ‘all tied up’. All legal practices face the daily threat of cyber-attacks that can impact client and employee relationships, damage a hard-earned reputation, ambitions and destabilise succession plans.

“Talking about risk and potential chaos is difficult and often, the information is hard to consume. That’s why I’m delighted to bring PureCyber into the heart of the Legal News Wales community, to invite the team to demystify cyber security and share jargon-free, relevant insight delivered by experts who know the legal sector inside and out –   that cuts to the quick for busy decision-makers.”

Damon Rands, Founder & CEO of PureCyber, said:

“As an organisation who specialises in cyber security for the legal sector, we are passionate about raising awareness and providing best practice advice to strengthen firms against the risk of cyber-attack. As the largest indigenous Welsh cyber security company we are also passionate about building trusted partnerships with respected Welsh organisations who share our values.

“As the voice for the legal industry in Wales, collaborating with Legal News Wales as its exclusive community partner is a no-brainer for us. We look forward to supporting the sector further to create a resilient and trusted digital world — even in the face of evolving threats.”

Damon added that a ‘well-protected law firm has the potential to be confident and the most innovative’. He said:

“The smartest firms don’t just manage cyber risk, they use it as a source of growth and market edge. Technology makes many things possible, but possible doesn’t always mean safe. As cyber threats grow in volume and sophistication and technology becomes essential for meeting the needs of your clients, employees, suppliers and society, your cyber security must build resilience and trust”.
