This episode of our Legal Sector Resilience Podcast aims to cut through the jargon on cyber security, to help the legal sector make sense of what’s important when it comes to understanding where their data is, how to keep it safe and, in turn, offer a more resilient service to clients.

I sat down with Damon Rands, Founder and CEO of PureCyber – our exclusive Cyber Security Community Partner to dispel some of the common myths, hear how easy it can be to slip up and what simple (and free) steps law firms in Wales can take on their cyber resilience journey.

Damon is known for his passion for raising awareness and understanding of cyber security at all levels, demystifying the jargon and improving confidence and resilience across businesses.

It’s clear from our conversation that he’s concerned that information and guidance around cyber security has been over-complicated and often irrelevant, which is why I invited him to have an honest, down-to-earth chat about the myths and common mistakes around data resilience and explore the simple steps to get your legal practice cyber confident and resilient.

What you’ll hear

In the podcast, you’ll hear us discuss the real-life risks and data breeches, and some top tips to help you and your colleagues stay secure.

I also asked Damon to explain the Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification process for the legal sector in Wales, and the benefits of achieving annual certification. As an organisation that has recently achieved its Cyber Essentials certification, Legal News Wales can attest to the process being strategically useful in terms of the use of our technology and data storage, as well as instilling confidence in our own data handling policies, processes and training.
