Azets has announced the formation of a new property tax team in South Wales.
The new division, led by Amy Buckley, Head of Tax for Azets’ Central & West Region, will assist clients in key areas such as property investments and transactions.
The creation of the specialist team within Azets comes on the back of OECD 2023 figures confirming property-related taxation amounted to 11.5% of GDP demonstrating how significant this area is in the UK.
Commenting on the new team, Amy Buckley said:
“As a business and as a region, we are delighted to be able to provide this specialist offering. The financial significance of property tax to HMRC and the Welsh Revenue Authority means that this is a key area for detailed scrutiny.
”The potential for unnecessary, unwelcome and unforeseen costs is a major risk to anyone entering into a property transaction. We are extremely fortunate within the region to have a vast amount of experience and knowledge, meaning we can provide a wide range of services to our clients and offer them the most effective tax advice.”
The new Azets team will provide advice and assistance to clients of all sizes, covering areas such as ownership structures, stamp taxes, capital taxes, income taxes, CIS, VAT and social housing.
Supporting Amy Buckley will be Andrew Hopkins (Partner – VAT); Iain Sanderson (Partner – Corporate Tax); Rebecca Read (Partner – Accounting and Business Advice Services); Lakshmi Narain (Associate Director – Stamp Duties); Christopher Hall (Senior Manager – Capital Allowances); and Daniel Jackson (Senior Manager – Private Client Tax), who collectively have nearly 150 years of experience in this area.
