Clinical negligence lawyer Julia Reynolds has joined Leigh Day as the law firm opens its first office in Wales.

Julia joined Leigh Day as a Partner in April 2024, sparking the opening of a new office in Wales for the firm that specialises in complex and high-value clinical negligence claims. Julia will be based at an office in Llanishen, Cardiff where Cerebral Palsy Cymru has a therapy centre – meaning the law firm has become the centre’s first commercial tenant.

“I am thrilled to be joining a firm like Leigh Day and that we will be opening our new office in Cardiff. Leigh Day is a unique type of law firm with a track record of taking on very important litigation, both nationally and internationally.

“I have specialise in Clinical Negligence work which fits perfectly with Leigh Day, a market leader in this field. Not only does the firm have a first-class reputation in this type of litigation, but the firm campaigns for patient safety. For example, there have been many reports in recent years regarding poor maternity care which is a cause very close to my heart. Leigh Day worked on the Parliamentary Birth Inquiry in Westminster. This is a reflection of the importance that they put on improving healthcare.”

Beci Jones, Head of Finance and Operations at Cerebral Palsy Cymru (pictured in banner, right) added:

“We are delighted to welcome Leigh Day as the first commercial tenant into our therapy centre. With demand for our services increasing year on year, we are constantly looking for new income streams to help sustain our specialist provision. Leasing out space in our building is one of a number of new commercial initiatives we will be implementing over the coming period to fund our work across Wales and to ensure that we can support every family that needs us.

Leigh Day’s head of clinical negligence, Suzanne White, said:

“I am extremely proud to announce that Julia has joined the Leigh Day clinical negligence team. Julia’s experience, expertise and reputation as one of the most influential lawyers in Cardiff, with 26 years of experience in a wide range of clinical negligence work, she is a huge asset for Leigh Day.

“It is our great privilege to open our first office in Wales, which will be based at the offices of Cerebral Palsy Cymru, Ty Glas Avenue, Llanishen, Cardiff, an inspiring charity which provides outstanding therapy and support for families across Wales living with cerebral palsy. I am very pleased that from our Cardiff base, we will have the opportunity to provide expert advice and representation to the people of Cardiff and Wales.”
